Winter and Spring

 

The mural is peppered with symbol, which stand for many different areas of study.  The realization that we never know where we might find information, and the inter-connectedness of seemingly diverse fields of study was an underlying reason for the random placement of the symbols.

 

There are symbols for the balance we seek foremost in our lives, a balance between physical balance and mental agility agility, for example; the yin and yang, the four-sided cross, and Solomon's seal.  Among other symbols depicted in the mural are emblems of the arts: painting, sculpture, architecture and music.  Also, emblems of the sciences: politics, physics, astronomy, medicine, law, chemistry.
