Quest for Knowledge tigard public library Artwork within the children's reading room Theme: Paintings in colorful lush oils with imagery depicting what adventure learning can be. By placing paintings throughout the reading room it leads the viewer into exotic wonderful places: transporting the children into the forest on one column, up into the sky on another, into the desert on a third and under the sea on the fourth column in search for knowledge. The wall painting entitled "Fanno Creek" places the children outside the library window beside the creek, showing the wonder in exploring the seemingly commonplace. There are images of children reading alone and with others, exploring, searching amidst the animals and flowers. Images include children, birds, airplanes and spacecraft streaking through the sky, and fishes, submarine divers and a mermaid under the ocean, a desert scene teeming with life, and a forest filled with children reading within the trees, all illustrating how unexpected and rich, fun and filled with mystery the learning experience can be and the wonders found within books in the library.
